CONIL IN SEPTEMBER: SUMMER ISN’T OVER YET

There is a moment when Conil begins to change.

The streets are still lively, the Atlantic is still warm enough for a swim and the evenings are still long. But little by little, the hectic pace of August starts to disappear.

September arrives.

For many locals, it is one of the best times of the year.

The hottest days begin to ease, the beaches become more peaceful and the town slowly returns to its usual rhythm.

And there is another reason why September is special: the Feria de Conil, held in honour of Nuestra Señora de las Virtudes, takes place from 4 to 8 September 2026.

If you are thinking about visiting Conil after the busiest part of summer, keep reading.

September might just be the month you were looking for.

Why visit Conil in September?

Because you can still enjoy almost everything that makes summer in Conil so special, but at a different pace.

There is less hustle and bustle in the streets, it is easier to find a table at a restaurant and walking along the beach becomes a much more relaxing experience.

And the best part?

September still brings plenty of days that are perfect for spending time in the sun and swimming in the Atlantic.

It is the ideal time for those who want to enjoy Conil without feeling that they have to do everything in a hurry.

1. The beach is still the star

If you are coming to Conil in September, don't put your swimsuit away just yet.

The beaches are still one of the town's greatest attractions.

Los Bateles Beach, right next to the town centre, is perfect if you want to combine a morning at the beach with a walk through the old town.

You can also head towards La Fontanilla Beach or explore some of the beautiful coves around Roche.

And here is one of the great advantages of September:

You can walk along the shore without feeling as though the whole of Conil has decided to do exactly the same thing.

2. The perfect time to discover the coves

September is a wonderful month for exploring the coastline.

In the middle of August, you may simply want to stay close to your accommodation and avoid travelling during the hottest hours of the day.

In September, however, it is much easier to grab your backpack, some water and head off to discover somewhere new.

You can travel towards Roche, follow the paths along the cliffs and discover small coves hidden among the rocks.

Places such as Cala del Pato are perfect for enjoying a different side of the Conil coastline.

And if you want to finish the day with spectacular views, head to Cabo Roche Lighthouse viewpoint.

3. September is perfect for exploring Conil on foot

During July and August, walking through the town centre at certain times of the day can feel intense.

September feels different.

It is a wonderful time to explore the whitewashed streets of the old town at your own pace.

Walk through Plaza de España, pass through the Arco de la Villa and continue towards the sea.

Then head towards the Guzmán Tower, one of Conil's most recognisable landmarks.

And after that, simply get a little lost.

Because that is still one of the best ways to discover Conil.

4. The Feria de Conil: September begins with a celebration

If there is one thing that makes the beginning of September especially lively, it is the Feria de Conil.

In 2026, it takes place from 4 to 8 September, in honour of Nuestra Señora de las Virtudes, the patron saint of Conil.

For five days, Conil transforms.

Music.

Fairground attractions.

Horses.

Dancing.

Families.

Friends.

Food.

And plenty of reasons to celebrate.

The fair takes place at the Recinto Ferial and combines the traditional atmosphere of an Andalusian feria with activities for different ages.

The 8th of September is also a local public holiday, making these days particularly special in Conil.

A Casa Andaluza tip

If you are planning to visit during these dates, we recommend booking your accommodation in advance.

The Feria makes the first days of September a particularly attractive time to visit Conil.

5. Sunsets that look like summer postcards

There is something different about September.

The light.

The sun begins to set a little earlier and the late afternoons take on that golden glow that makes the coastline look spectacular.

You can finish the day with a walk along Conil's seafront promenade.

Or simply sit facing the Atlantic and wait for the sun to disappear.

You don't really need anything else.

6. The perfect month for food lovers

September is also a fantastic time to enjoy Conil's gastronomy.

As the most intense summer heat begins to fade, sitting on a terrace, ordering a cold beer and taking your time over lunch becomes even more enjoyable.

Fresh fish.

Red tuna.

Cuttlefish.

Seafood.

Rice dishes.

Traditional stews.

And, of course, the traditional bars where local people have been eating for generations.

In fact, we have created our own gastronomic route featuring some of the most authentic bars and restaurants in Conil — places where you can still eat like a local.

7. La Chanca: discover Conil's tuna-fishing heritage

September is also a good time to discover the Conil that exists beyond the beach.

One of the places worth visiting is La Chanca, the interpretation and documentation centre dedicated to the sea, tuna fishing and the traditional almadraba.

La Chanca offers an insight into the historic relationship between Conil, the sea, tuna and the almadraba fishing tradition.

Because to understand Conil, you need to understand its relationship with the Atlantic.

Here, tuna is not simply something you order in a restaurant.

It is part of our history.

8. Nature and walks without rushing

September is the perfect month for plans that we might have postponed during August.

A walking route.

A stroll along the cliffs.

A morning exploring coves.

A trip towards Roche.

Or simply walking along the coast until it is time for lunch.

You can also head up to La Atalaya Park and enjoy the views over the Atlantic.

In September, Conil feels a little more relaxed.

And that is precisely what many of us look for when we go on holiday.

9. A calmer side of Conil

This is probably the biggest difference compared with August.

That does not mean Conil is empty.

Far from it.

September remains an important month for tourism in the area.

But for visitors, the experience can feel different.

Getting around can be easier.

Some places feel less crowded.

Terraces become a little more relaxed.

And you can enjoy many of your favourite places without quite so much rush.

It is the perfect balance between atmosphere and tranquillity.

10. September is also perfect for families

If you are travelling with children, September can be a particularly pleasant time to visit.

Temperatures are generally more comfortable than during the hottest weeks of summer, while you can still enjoy the beach, swimming pools and outdoor activities.

The beginning of the month also coincides with the Feria, with activities and entertainment for different ages.

It is a wonderful way to finish the summer holidays before returning to everyday life.

Where should you stay in September?

There is another advantage to visiting Conil in September.

You can take your time choosing the type of accommodation that best suits your holiday.

A house close to the beach if you want to leave the car behind.

An apartment in the town centre if you want to walk out for dinner.

A villa with a swimming pool if you are looking for peace and privacy.

Or a house with a garden for a few days of genuine relaxation.

At Casa Andaluza, we know Conil throughout the year and can help you find accommodation that suits the kind of holiday you are looking for.

Conil in September: summer isn't over yet

Perhaps September is Conil's best-kept secret.

Summer is still here.

The sea is still inviting.

The restaurants are still serving fresh fish.

The terraces are still full of life.

The beaches are still the main attraction.

And during the first days of the month, the Feria provides the perfect finale to a summer that is slowly beginning to say goodbye.

But something is different.

There is time.

Time to walk.

Time to enjoy a long lunch.

Time to discover a hidden cove.

Time to sit beside the sea.

Time for an after-lunch coffee.

And time to experience Conil the way those of us who live here do.

If you have never visited Conil in September, perhaps this is the year to discover it.

And who knows…

Maybe when October arrives, you'll be the one saying that September is the best month to visit Conil.
